Wrap It Up

November 07, 2018

Is a synonym for finish it up, yet we can not but start it up. Start wearing warm clothes in cold weather, because fall is here to stay and winter will be here, in no time, to slay. Become a feeling and wrap ourselves up, basically. Feeling, filling, potato, potato.

Pajamas-wear, seen both as clothing and #mood, extends into this bathrobe-wear kind of outwear. Not bad. Moving, slowly but surely, from bedroom to bathroom feels only natural. Is anyone out there who doesn’t enjoy a hot bubble bath, on the cold evening of a cold day? Didn’t think so. To snuggle down in a luscious bathrobe, afterwards, is the warmest embrace fashion could ever give us! Robes have been in fashion since the 17th century, as part of the robe à la française, introduced by Madame de Pompadour.

Wait. Robes were clothes first. The word itself – clothes – feels closer to our skin than fashion does. Clothes were here first, fashion happened later on. If ever, for some of us. Are you rolling your eyes? Fashion, no fashion, you must be wearing some sort of outwear. Eventually, you are out of your bathroom, eventually, you’re out of your bedroom. You’re busted, my friend!

Carrying a piece of our bathroom out into the world feels cozy, we can wrap ourselves up in bubbles, find peace no matter what, everything stems from our imagination and the desire to feel warmth. The warmth. Or, you know, we can be the fashion aficionados that we enjoy being and just let it be or something.

Next thing you know, we’ll be caring with us our entire homes all over the place, because this is how much we will start to love the indoors versus the outdoors — if the world won’t stop for a minute and reconsider global warming, human interaction, waste, right versus wrong, natural versus superficial, love. Are snails the biggest fashion aficionados out there or what? And! They can breathe underwater! Man, someone must’ve had a blast creating this planet.

A hug. A laugh inside the bubble bath is the blast we’re meant to have. Light a candle or two, put on some music and relax, become delicious, you’re home, no matter where on this planet you are. It’s a robe thing.

Hey, this is Cristina Pavelescu wearing a music cassette sweater, decoding (life) style and writing from wherever, yet always living in OZ, a world I invite you into. To smile in front of our screens (and live one day), put any kind of questions, answer in writing (or imagination) and marvel at fashion which is, in fact, style.
