B: Hmm, honestly? I wouldn’t draw a parallel between your Oz and The Wizard of Oz.
C: Well, it’s inevitable that one does the connection, though.
B: Oz was, basically, an outlaw. That was the whole point with his character.
C: There’s magic in his so called fraud.
B: Lol, not really…
C: I know what you mean, I said it to myself this last summer when I read the story all over again. What I felt next was that Oz did, in fact, the right thing for he made people believe in his power only to make them believe, in fact, in their own power.
B: He was an outlaw that takes Oz over through hoax and bluff. A strolling player who fooled people and then Dorothy and the gang, until they discovered that the almighty wizard is a fraud… But his character in the story is a symbol of an entity Dorothy trusts to solve all her problems. When, n truth, she prevails on her own. Through her own power. With her helpers, which are, actually, features of her personality. Courage, compassion… She only needed to discover them. That’s the point! You don’t need the wizard, you have it all in yourself. A parallel between Oz and self-discovery… Hmm, come to think about it, this really is your direction.
C: To the core!
B: Your sense of fashion is in yourself. You just have to discover your own style… What makes you feel good and helps express yourself freely… Not copying trends that don’t necessarily fit you.
C: Precisely the message behind Oz in Paris.
B: And why in Paris? Because it’s the symbol of fashion in the world!
C: Oui, oui and oui!
OZ is the romantic wizard that lets the magic shine through his story and style. Then of the characters’ in the book and, ultimately, of the whole world ever since 1900. I’m imagining he is in Paris now, living Hemingway’s Moveable Feast. A sexy twist!
Hey, this is Cristina Pavelescu wearing a music cassette sweater, decoding (life) style and writing from wherever, yet always living in the world of OZ I invite you into. To smile in front of our screens (and live one day), put any kind of questions, answer in writing (or imagination) and marvel at fashion which is, in fact, style.
Yes, it is, mainly, about style, because clothes are so much more than just /’fæʃən/.
Not a fashion aficionado? You must be wearing some piece of clothing, though. I am so curious! If your attire, by any chance, consists of just a leaf, you are the luckiest of us all and I, most definitely, want to meet you.
You get to make up your own life, then make it come true and eat pancakes.
Crêpes au chocolat, s’il vous plaît!
