There’s Something That Rocks Big Time Here

May 09, 2018

And is silently powerful.

Picture a fiery red, oval-shaped Valentino bag — perfect to hold — blending unexpectedly well into the rock combo sensually unraveling in our minds. It hurts in the way rock is meant to hurt. In the best way. A rockstar shows up.

My mind is searching for the perfect song to go with it, the headphones are on, the fingers are browsing through songs, the eyes are wandering all over my memory. Oh, this DJ thing makes you forget about everything and remember about everything at the same time.

You have to feel rock music, to listen to the lyrics, to move according to the rhythm. Your rhythm. You don’t have to, you can do whatever, you’re listening to rock music after all, hello. Rock music brings back childhood memories — layered on top of whatever else is currently vibing in my head. It’s what I’m listening to these days, precisely because of those days when I wasn’t thinking about anything, just a kid listening to rock — not even realising it was rock I was listening to. I was falling asleep to Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven, almost every night. Every kid is a rockstar, that’s the thing, you just don’t think. You feel. And then, you remember everything.

Valentino is cool for being Valentino. There’s something about it. You have to really look into it to observe its unique way of developing its style throughout time. You don’t have to, you can do whatever, you’re listening to rock music after all, hello. Just as it is something about the shape, the size, the roundedness, the leather in this particular picture of a bag I ran into and invite you to imagine it now. Why? Who cares. It might be about, also, the beautiful hands getting out of the sharp jacket, out of the jumpsuit underneath the jacket, that are holding the fiery bag. Not stopping. Can you feel the touch? I know I can. I can sense the relaxed jumpsuit saying let your mind do the walking, let my body do the talking, and us all conforming, most definitely.

My mind has just pressed play, all of a sudden.

It’s a track I put on a s-e-x mix CD I made for a work colleague turned pie. Or was it It’s No Good? She and I made each other a s-e-x mix CD, back when we used to work at the music TV channel. We made the CDs just for fun, not for work, while at work. Every song on the CD was supposed to be a surprise, it was part of the fun. We both really liked and like fun. And s-e-x. Hahaha. Memories, see? Is my mind just playing while pressing play?

The aforementioned partner in crime and I have been calling each other pie, ever since the CDs. Sweet pie, in key moments. Sweet pie introduced me to Hess Is More — Yess Boss. So. Sweet pie – a rockstar forever.

Hey, this is Cristina Pavelescu wearing a music cassette sweater, decoding (life) style and writing from wherever, yet always living in OZ, a world I invite you into. To smile in front of our screens (and live one day), put any kind of questions, answer in writing (or imagination) and marvel at fashion which is, in fact, style.
