This is the title I came up with while straining every piece of my body when sipping a cocktail in a super cool and secret (super secret) “speak easy” cocktail bar in Berlin.
You know what that means? I didn’t. I know. And I so love firsts, but that’s another story.
Since this is not your typical touristic guide (“It’s not?”, “Nope!”), you won’t find the historical meaning of it all. That you can read on the Internet, actually listen into the headphones while on the Sightseeing double-deck or learned at school while actually paying attention during your History classes. Yup!
In here, we’ll go raw right to the heart of Berlin.
Best stay? The Westin Grand Berlin right on the Friedrichstraße, one of my favourite streets in Berlin. Wide, nit, grandiose. Yet cool, relaxed, fun. You know The Grand Budapest Hotel, the movie? Well, watch it. And find pictures below.
Food. Now you’re talking! Now check this out. Anywhere we wanted a table outside (which is everywhere) we were told of the rule. Uuh rules. Yes. “Sure! You find a chair and it’s yours.” Oh, and they don’t make reservations outside. And you literally go and sit. And eat. Oh, and you eat!
First there’s “The Bird” where the burgers are very (very, very) good. And the bathroom is hip. And the menu is cool. And the people are nice. This is all over the place. Nice, nice! Pictures below.
Then there’s “Due Forni” where the Italian is Italian right from the entrance where the chaos is chaotic, but in that Italian, so “vero” and “bello” way. The mood is Mediterranean easy-breezy and the food is, well, Italian. Duh. But in that “dolce” way. But only it wasn’t sweet. Nor did they wanted to give me pizza sauce. As in not ketchup, hello! That oh-so-delicious tomatoes sauce… Pictures below. Pictures with no pizza sauce, that is!
And “Shiso Burger”. Yes, burger. Again. I am on a detox something now. No, I am not, but I should be. Will be! Haha. Anyway, these were worth it since they were Asian Fusion, Fo Shiso Ma Niso! Yu-uh-um! You must get the Wagyu burger. Pictures below.
The light in the morning in Berlin is so nice. When walking to breakfast is so nice. Walking in Berlin is so nice. Full stop. “The Chipps” did the trick along with the location, design, people, coolness. Yet, again, yes! All these. And a bit of extra vinegar. Watch out if you’re into Benedicts. Pictures below.
