#nyfw #streetstyle Definitely #yay

February 20, 2017

New York. I am so curious what comes to people’s minds the moment they hear the name. What do you think of? Now. Now, now.

What do I think of? I’m imagining you asking me and we have this dialogue in our super rich imagination. I’ll do both parts, I’ll draw the dashes like there’s no tomorrow. With you. Though I’m sure your mind is running wild inside that head of yours, too, you just have to see it and release it or, you know, enjoy the pain/pleasure.

Very interesting. Talking to yourself. Well, actually, having dialogues with yourself. I do it here and I do it publicly, you are super safe on your couch.

New York? You’re asking me.

I am now at this shooting in New York – cough – in a studio that has been arranged as to feel “there”. From the brainstorming, we all concluded that NY is, above all, about the city itself. About what you can see outside the window. Eyes take shapes of the buildings, of the flatiron (building, hello!) and THE streets. Of the street where you can see that beautiful sunset. Ooh!

This is me talking as a future tourist of a place I am super anxious to see and heard every possible clichée about. And then sharing them.

Of the streets?

This is where I intended to get. There are things someone says sometimes, even 8 years ago, and they forever stuck in your memory. Unlike other stuff you heard 5 minutes ago and bye! It’s like you haven’t ever heard of it. A freshly returned from NY (8 years ago fresh) friend told me then: “Jees, the women on the streets of NY, Jees!“.

And this didn’t sound like a clichée to me then. Brasil, Russia would have, but not NY. At least not to my ears. When I heard her, I pictured the image below and 8 years later it became reality:

Both the ones on the right and on the left.

In my imagination, the hair was blonde. The attitude and style, however, were exactly as in the story later told above by @ohwawa_: “Fashion week time. Remember everything isn’t just about the runway, sometimes your runway is just walking the streets of New York. See you soon New Yawkkk!

Because yes, it is about New York Fashion Week and starting last season’s, New York street style has become very personal. Inside and outside shows’ attendees are no longer worn by their clothes. Quite the contrary. Moreover, they are actually represented by their style which is what style does best and so, therefore – ladies and gents! – we finally have street style.

Hashtag.

Or style.

Hashtag.

You’re driving me nuts with all these hashtags.

Pain/pleasure, remember?

The Moss In The No Moss, No Foss, Kate Moss!

January 16, 2017

#neverbasic

January the 16th. A special day in our calendars to mark the birth of someone who ever since appearing in media, has not ever owned any social media account and who just sits in a coffee shop at a table, enjoying her coffee without any phone or laptop (and is taken for a crazy person, according to a tweet a while ago, there!) and is, nevertheless, one of the most wanted individuals in the fashion world. In spite of the new comer Gigi Hadid and her millions of “followers”. Nothing wrong with that.

It is true that in the early ’90s, when Moss appeared in the Calvin Klein commercial, Facebook and Instagram didn’t exist. But even when they did, there was still no sight of Kate on it. One of the most used hashtags probably – #katemoss – and still nothing! The only certified account (all of the rest are fake) was made last year in September – @katemossagency – for her agency. I followed, have been stalking ever since, but there’re only 64 posts there.

Kate Moss does covers, not Insta.

She did 37 Vogue UK covers, the first one in 1993 and the latest in 2016, each time in her own style. A style she managed to genuinely flaunt and transform into a British trademark.

The dyed-blonde-always-chicly-undone is a hint of the partying nights. Moreover, it is a hint of her character, humour, love of life (ignore the cigarette from picture below), looseness, good mood, honesty.

This is what Moss fabulously gets beyond her famous cheekbones, the full of confidence, but always warm stare, emblematic hair, sylphid allure, pure energy.

A sort of candour that is not even “intended”, it is real from inside out. Out to her 170 cm, a height so atypical for her launch back in the ’80s, when Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell were referred to as “supermodels”.

Kate Moss is the definition of effortless. She does not struggle to feel effortless, for sure. If she does, though, and wanders naked in front of the mirror for long minutes just to be able to get of the house looking casually and at peace, I would feel better myself. But I don’t think she does, anyway.

Or does she?

Howsoever, she must be easing her life by owning some key pieces in her wardrobe she feels good in and then mixes all the time. Only to feel good in them. This is it.

Good!

One can see that she loves fashion. The deep way. She does not only gets it so well, but is also aware of what clothes might do to one and seems to believe in clothes’ power to become one’s confident to share feelings and memories with. Moss has this thing for high-end vintage gowns rather then for the freshly out from the fashion weeks’ catwalks.

And wears them with a nonchalance that rivals with the “weight” most of the fashion world usually forces itself to impose and wins every time while toasting with vodka drinks with “the tough ones”.

Without even realising it.

Because she just lives and loves it.

To live!

A Va-Va-Voom Dress For A Va-Va-Voom Girl

, 2017

“Golden Globes” passed, but the Internet is still high for Meryl Streep’s speech and the gowns that flowed all over the place on all sorts of lists. Having seen the same outfits for so many times through news feeds here and there, I can’t help but think, in the back of my mind, of two gowns in particular.

The first one is right on my favourites list from the 74th annual. It’s true that I love both the actress and the dress, so when watching the Globes and seeing them both in the same place, I thought of a match made in heaven.

It’s Felicity Jones in a Gucci dress.

Shortly after, Zoe Saldana showed up in a Gucci dress also and although I was dying for the dress and I happen to like Zoe too, I said sadly to myself “mnope“, without giving too much thought to it at the time. It was tough. It is a Gucci dress we’re talking here about.

We have two beautiful dresses, two beautiful actresses, impeccable make-ups, smiles also.

Yet?

This is a case of two gorgeous women who wear gorgeous dresses, but who still don’t (quite) make it onto the “best dressed list”. Not that this would be the goal in life, but there was a red carpet in the pictures above, so there most certainly was a “list”.

Yet?

The dresses didn’t match the personalities. It were the dresses that wore the celebrities, not the celebrities that wore the dresses. The dresses were the celebrities. Gucci dresses are celebrities by definition. Through colours, cut, fabrics, ruffles, playfulness, bliss. This is it! Bliss! A.k.a. “a state of perfect happiness, oblivious of everything else”.

Therefore, a va-va-voom dress, like Gucci dresses are, e.g., once dressed, must be assumed. Understood. Furthermore, felt. Once dressed, the dress becomes the best friend of the one wearing it. Whom she laughs, dances, dedicates songs with on the dance floor/red carpet, whom she confesses to, who she drinks champagne, sings, have fun (in) with.

And this is how clothes become so much more than just clothes.

The most important thing, though, is for both the woman and the dress to “love” both fashion and a little bit of craziness at the same time. Better yet! To enjoy the chemistry in between.

Chemistry… Here comes the answer to the question from the back of my mind above. There’s no chemistry. Everything beautifully by the book, but no chemistry.

There has to be one between the wearer and the whatever garment.

Especially when the garment is a va-va-voom one.

Just like in life.

H2O, anyone?

Below are some happy formulas of Gucci dresses. They below must have liked it at school.

Beyoncé in Gucci in “Formation” video
Florence Welch in Gucci
Rihanna in Gucci
Chloë Sevigny in Gucci
Sienna Miller in Gucci
Leandra Medine in Gucci
Dakota Johnson in Gucci
Anna Dello Russo in Gucci

Fridaze From The Heart #4

January 13, 2017

Today I’m saying let’s not wait for the evening to come to feel it’s Friday. It’s Friyaaaay (!!) and no matter what we do in day to day life or what our job is or how much we enjoy the rest of the week’s days, Friday is a day we all share joy at the same time. Even if not always jumping and dancing all day long or making aerial tricks at home, but always having at least the teeny tinniest party somewhere in our souls.

Come on!

This is how synergy is created on Fridays and synergy is the best! Synergy is the creation of a whole that is greater than the simple sum of its parts. The term “synergy” comes from the Attic Greek word “synergia” from “synergos”, meaning “working together”.

Synergy would happen if we would all watch at the same time the videos from the latest “The tonight show with Jimmy Fallon” with Michelle Obama as Jimmy’s guest.

I bet we all now smile at the sight of these two people who – yes! – know television, but soul, humour, candour, honesty are things that get through screens or pictures.

We smile when we see souls. Or a smile. A heartfelt laugh. Heart! Sneezing is contagious but we all know how a smile is. A genuine one. It connects hearts.

This is what the First Lady has been doing. Spreading smiles all over the world, making the world fall in love with her. Just as Obama did. How not to?

And her being in love with him. Ooh-la-la!

A high position, maybe the highest in the world, does not only mean power the way we’re most used to. It, moreover, means the power of example. Which we all know, we just choose not to grant too much importance to, for one reason or another. It might be the lack of trust. In oneself, in the first place. The most important of the trusts, in fact.

Once we fill our hearts with the good – we wish for us and our closest ones and then, little by little, the whole world – it is very possible that the world becomes eventually a better place. A world of seven billion hearts. Imagine the synergy!

Let’s, therefore, look at first into our own souls and be grateful.

Do everything we have to do as best as we can and never forget to have fun.

Because it’s Friday and because we only have one life!

My suggestion for you on this day (and weekend)? As much Jimmy as possible!

The Grinning Sun

January 12, 2017

The other days, when it kept on snowing and the wind was blowing, the cold (cold, cold!) made me want to not ever get out of jeans, UGGs or snow boots, warmest sweater and snowboard jacket. Not that I had any intention of snowboarding on the sidewalks of the city and I have never tried to ski.

Even snow started to melt, but it’s still cold. Cold, cold. At the sight of the sun, however, I wished of wearing anything but the all-time-saviors blue jeans, hot boots and chunky sweaters.

I looked at the sky, we showed teeth to one another, bat our eyelashes and I got out in the “anything but” I would freeze, but at least would have fun in. And I always have fun when in skirt (particularly a jumpsuit skirt). A “jumpskirt” over the flared cropped trousers, underneath the glittery sweater.

Us, girls, and the glitter, ooh!

The sole of the boots saved the day for a bit, but the naked leather inside was making bffs with my skin. Was complaining, actually. The skin to the leather. About the cold, cold.

We all like to complain about the weather anyway. Us, people! “Too hot, too cold.” I’m not complaining or anything, but one can not ignore the cold weather.

I kept the snowboard jacket – I wear it too little a year – but I keep on getting it off. Just to have fun.

With the sun.

The sun with myself.

We smile, grin, laugh.

Golden Globes 2017. The Ladies. The Gowns.

January 09, 2017

“This is live from the red carpet. Making magic. Making memes. Making moments.”, says E!Entertainment’s promo every 10 minutes, as watching live from the red carpet.

So this is me awing as seen below at the glamour and talent being awarded tonight, at the 74th Golden Globe Awards.

Let’s get this party started.

Claire Foy. The cut, the posture, the easy up-do, the sequins (of course!). And her performance in “The Crown”, because sometimes talent is expressed through attitude and style. Though pictures, other times, aren’t. Claire shines, I’m telling you.

Sienna Miller. Writing and deleting, writing and deleting. Trying to find the right words. Warming up here. Here we go.

It is a Michael Kors gown, it is totally a Sienna gown. The negligent pony tail tied up with a slick black tie. The pearls along with the tiny sequins on the dress? Daring, but Sienna. And best of all: feeling good with her whole va-va-voom. It’s her, it’s not just Golden Globes.

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton and a chocker that seems made from the same tie as Sienna’s hair tie. Which not only looks so cool, but also is so cool because you can really wear this tie as a hair tie, but also as a chocker. And this is how you wear a chocker.

Ruth Negga in Louis Vuitton. “Rrr” comes to mind and “rrr” my fingers type.

Natalie Portman in Prada. Splendid Prada. Though the colour wasn’t the greatest one on her, Natalie shined so hard, that the dress was one thing and Natalie was another. Both beautiful.

Emma Stone in Valentino. She is a star and she wears stars while elbow hustling her brother during interview for E!. Nice!

Annette Bening. Everything.

Olivia Culpo in Zuhair Murad. Why so moody, you’re on the best list, girl.

Felicity Jones in Gucci

Tracee Ellis Ross. The styling and attitude. Wink.

Teresa Palmer in Armani Privé. No muss, no fuss, just elegant and smooth. Operator.

Caitriona Balf in Delpozo

Was there any dress code stating deep (the deepest one could find) v-neck? As seeing them on the red carpet, I looked for one on the internet, but couldn’t find one. It must be the birth of a trend. Ta-da!

Jessica Biel in Elie Saab

Mandy Moore in Naeem Khan

Drew Barrymore in Monique Lhuillier:

Kristin Cavallari

Emily Ratajkowski in Reem Acra

Felicity Huffman

White has been a thing for some time now and it is here to stay.

Thandie Newton

Kristen Wiig in Reem Acra

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Gillian Anderson

Pretty much yellow going on, but this isn’t really a surprise since yellow is one of the upcoming Spring, everybody.

Viola Davis

Kerry Washington in Dolce & Gabbana

Maise Williams

Reese Witherspoon

Winona Ryder was so sweet and genuine that her Viktor & Rolf dress could have been any dress, she would have still made you want to kiss her. She has her own category. The Winona.

But then there were the sequinned and the embellished. Man, us girls love the sparkle!

Amy Adams in Tom Ford

Priyanka Chopra in Ralph Lauren

Nicole Kidman in Alexander McQueen

Chrissy Teigen in Marchesa

Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad

Suits. Trending, trending.

Evan Rachel Wood in Altuzarra. “They make a good suit!“, Evan just told E!. Well, they seem to.

Octavia Spencer

Kathryn Hahn

Jimmy, good luck, have fun and enjoy the ride!

A Denim Skirt A Girl

January 06, 2017

A denim skirt gets me straight to primary school. That is when I made an obsession for it, obsession that has been securely locked up somewhere in a box together with the books and essays of the time, box I didn’t think of opening anytime soon. (more…)

Fridaze For Real #1

December 02, 2016

This is the first out of what is about to become the Friday routine. Feel free to join anytime. And also the perfect time for you to read this on Friday. Fridaze for real. Free Fridays for real. And so on.

Doesn’t Friday make you want to do things? Things you normally do howsoever during the rest of the week, but Friday has this thing you can not touch, but oh, can, most certainly, only feel and energy never lies. It is like, maybe, during the week you’d been feeling kinda tired or lazy, hopeless or whatever, and then Friday comes along and boom! It’s like a whole new world opens up in front of you, but then Sunday comes and slams it in your face.

Anyway.

We have only 2 days – actually 2 nights and a day and a half – to feel everything this post is about with this precise mood. You have now. Take a moment to realise it’s Friday. Fridaaaay! Yes, no? All the other days are just as great blah-blah, yes. Except for Sundays. Sundays I don’t really get.

I’d started to write this long ago and I always got to it on Fridays (the day to post it). I was getting into the hype of this whole thing I’m writing this very instant here and now about, opened the laptop, started to type, but in the end, the mood was so good that I just fell into it completely and didn’t look back. Into the laptop.

Turned up the volume and sang or danced on my own throughout the house, meditated, ate, went to some friends’ to couch potato over some potatoes, got under a blanket and watched a movie. Not an easy movie, but a complex, twisted, awing movie. It is what we call a mind fuck. Because Fridays feel like taking it all in and enjoying the “it” and the “all”.

Because on Fridays we always have time.

These below are for when you get home, close the door to everything and be yourself with whatever or whomever sets your mood on for the weekend and for any other day.

Your guide through this Friday #tgif #tgif #tgif:

Have you watched Baz Luhrman’s “Romeo & Juliet yet? It’s always good. Even for the 8th time.

I am so-oh-oh curious what you do on Friday evenings, jees! Write me be-eh-low.

"It" Bags Don’t Have To Be Alone

December 01, 2016

I am often told Oh, yeah, and I would totally wear this [look] with a va-va-voom bag! (not necessarily in these words, but you get my point) as if the bag is supposed to bring that special sprinkle most of us wish for in our outfits, as if I am super classic and stuff, but hey, I also have this crazy part embodied by my purse, as if the bag is going to do the walking, not the owner of it.

ozinparis-how-to-style-it-bag

ozinparis-how-to-style-it-bag-1

And few people really love a piece of fashion which lives on its own, has personality that inspires not just one generation, but two or three or four, is one of “few people”‘s best friends. I am totally in for the thrill, you piece! A thrill with no pressure when talking about fashion, though.

Peace!

Bags are our secret confidents. Collectors of our memories. If only bags could talk. They would tell you “Hey, find me a lover!“, or “Hey, this is a crowd!“, or “Someone partied hard last night, muhaha!“, or “You naughty, naughty one!“.

But they don’t.

Wearing an extraordinary bag – literally, extra ordinary – is not the easiest one can do and just throw onto whatever. Though, of course, you are your own designer, so do whatever the f it is that you want. But. A bag is going to be sad. Boo. It needs a partner in crime, an extra ordinary better half represented by just about anything from hair to skirts to socks.

Just like in love. Followed by Sienna’s smile below.

So you either go safe till the end and when being safe, don’t stress an it bag to do the “dirty” work, or you go “wild” and you be the partner of your “bag in crime”, by matching the it bag to, at least, one more it thing and then beat it!

A bag, on the other hand, may also be a friend to help you wake up to reality – if you ever feel like it. Like this honest bag below does.

@net-a-porter

Open your eyes and feel a little. Touch things with your eyes. Ouch. If it feels right or, even better, super wrong and you totally in it, feeling it, then it is it!

You with me?
